Classic or Restored Autos (Rule 20E) --A classic or restored auto is an auto of the private passenger type under 25 years old which has a current value higher than the maximum amount shown for that auto’s symbol. This term includes special edition autos that have appreciated values and older production models that have appreciated, rather than depreciated, due to unique design, limited production, or special interest. Rate in accordance with Rule 30.

Custom Built Autos (Rule 20F) -- A custom built auto is an auto of the private passenger type which is built from new or used materials and parts by someone not recognized as a manufacturer or is altered or modified to the extent that it no longer reflects its original manufacturer configuration. This term also includes custom built autos assembled from a kit (often called “kit cars”), even if a Manufacturers Certificate of Origin is provided.

Rule 30. CLASSIC, RESTORED, OR CUSTOM BUILT AUTOS

A. Determine the rating territory (Rule 50).

B. For all coverages other than physical damage, rate as private passenger autos.

C. Physical Damage Coverage

1. The policy shall be rated and issued on the Actual Cash Value of the auto at the time of the issuance of the policy. The value of these autos must be verified by the submission of at least one up-to-date photograph and an up-to-date appraisal of the auto. The term "up-to-date" means not more than one year old.

2. For classic or restored autos, apply the estimated current value to the 1989 and prior table in the S&I Manual to determine the Rating Symbol. Rate in accordance with Rule 21 using the oldest model year displayed in the Private Passenger Rate Section (R-10 and R-11).

3. For custom built autos, apply the estimated current value to the 1990 and later table in the S&I Manual to determine the rating symbol. Rate in accordance with Rule 21 using the current model year displayed in the Private Passenger Rate Section (R-10 and R- 11).
