MAIPF Notice of Non-Pay Cancel Moratorium (Updated 5/28/2020)
Due to the current situation regarding COVID-19, effective April 6, 2020, the MAIPF issued a moratorium on non-pay cancellations until May 31, 2020. The MAIPF continues to monitor communications from all levels of government and will communicate any changes to this timeline as soon as possible. As of the end date of the moratorium, any uncollected premium that was due during the moratorium period will be invoiced. Failure to pay this invoice may result in cancellation of the policy for non-payment of premium.
If you have any questions regarding the status of a policy, please contact the assigned Servicing Carrier.
NOTE TO MAIPF PRODUCERS: Due to Governor Whitmer's Executive Order 2020-21, access to the building in which the MAIPF office is located has been restricted to only essential personnel for the offices and the building. In addition, MAIPF is only maintaining in-office staff as needed to maintain business operations. As a result, MAIPF is unable to receive hand-delivered applications during this time. Please note that this also applies to overnight packages. During this time, delivery of overnight packages will likely be unsuccessful because there may not be staff available for signature. As a reminder, when determining whether to consider an application "late," the MAIPF uses the postmark date of a mailed application. If you have any concerns regarding the timeliness of your MAIPF application, please work with your mailing service to ensure your mail is postmarked. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our office at 734-464-1100. Thank you for your understanding.
